Acupuncture is a 3000+ year old practice deeply rooted in Chinese tradition which has always looked at the whole person. The organs are related, their functions assist one another, emotions are not separated from physical ailments and the body is linked by a vast system of meridians or channels in similar style to our nerves, blood vessels or fascia.   The practice of Acupuncture looks at the interconnection between biology, psychology, and socio-environmental factors.

As an Acupuncturist I work with each individual where they are at in that moment.  There is not one perfect treatment for all people.  The entire person is taken into account when deciding on a treatment plan.  Incorporated in Acupuncture treatments are the modalities of Needling, Cupping,  Gua Sha (skin scraping),  Tui Na (Chinese style massage), Acupressure, Nutritional counselling and lifestyle recommendations (such as mindfulness or breathing techniques).  All or some of these modalities may be used in a single treatment.   My practice combines hands on techniques with needles to create a more grounded and balanced treatment.

My acupuncture style aims to tap into the nervous system.  I feel that this is one of the most important factors of regaining balance in the body. Our nervous system is responsible for controlling our functions both consciously or unconsciously.

When we use acupuncture to tap into the nervous system and create balance between the sympathetic (fight, flight or freeze) and the parasympathetic (rest, digest and think),  all the other systems can work more optimally.  Pain will be reduced, digestion will be more effective, thinking will be clear, sleep will become more restful.
